Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences


The Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences has eight cross-school and cross-faculty research institutes. It has strong links with the UK National Health Service, as well as other universities, in various areas of clinical research.

Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences


The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences has some of the most advanced laboratory and research facilities in the UK. In fact, the faculty's Dalton Nuclear Institute is currently working with Imperial College London to launch the Nuclear Engineering Doctorate Centre, the first in the UK to award doctorates in nuclear engineering.


Faculty of Humanities


The Faculty of Humanities heads the Brooks World Poverty Institute, which conducts studies on the economic, social, and political approaches to global poverty reduction.

Faculty of Life Sciences


The Faculty of Life Sciences is home to five research centres dedicated to science history, functional genomics, biomedical Egyptology, tissue engineering, and cell-matrix research.
